Absolutely! Whether you’re a seasoned player or completely new to the game, you’re welcome to join. We’ll start from scratch, guiding you through everything from logging in to crafting your first tools. Before you know it, you’ll be exploring the virtual world and constructing your dream home—all while practicing English!

Absolutely! Our server is set up to accommodate players from all devices simultaneously. Here’s a breakdown of what some of our current players use:

  • Jason (Instructor): Utilizes a PC computer for both Minecraft and Discord (Voice App), using gaming headphones for immersive sound.
  • Student 1: Plays Minecraft on an iPhone, using earbuds for audio, and connects to Discord (Voice App) via an older iPhone.
  • Student 2: Prefers an iPad for Minecraft, using headphones for audio, and connects to Discord (Voice App) for communication.
  • Student 3: Uses a laptop for both Minecraft and Discord (Voice App), wearing headphones for sound immersion.

Additionally, while the Nintendo Switch is compatible, it does require adjusting DNS settings, which may pose a challenge for those less tech-savvy. We recommend using the Switch only if you’re comfortable with this setup and have experience doing so. We’re working on simplifying this process for future use.

Using the Nintendo Switch on our private Minecraft server can be challenging due to technical requirements. Unlike other devices, such as computers or mobile phones, the Switch requires users to adjust DNS settings to connect to private servers. This process can be complex and may pose difficulties for those who are not familiar with networking or console configurations. While it’s possible to use the Switch for our Minecraft lessons, we advise caution and recommend it only for users who are comfortable with navigating and adjusting these settings. We’re actively exploring ways to simplify this process in the future to make it more accessible to all players.

It’s your choice! Our server caters to players from both the Java and Bedrock editions, allowing everyone to play together seamlessly.

  • Java Edition: This version offers a more technical experience with different menu systems and extensive customization options, including plugins.
  • Bedrock Edition: Designed for platforms like iPhones, iPads, Androids and the Nintendo Switch, Bedrock provides a simplified interface and easy avatar customization. This is my favorite version to play on the server.

Which is better? Both versions offer equal opportunities for learning English on our server. Personally, I use the Bedrock edition for our English classes as it’s the most commonly used version among our students. Consistency in menus ensures everyone can easily navigate and seek assistance if needed. But if you have only used Java and are comfortable with that please feel free to use it!

Discord is a communication platform designed for communities, gamers, and friends to connect and communicate with each other. It allows users to chat via text, voice, or video in private conversations or within organized groups called servers. In the context of our Minecraft English class, Discord serves as a platform for voice communication during gameplay. You can join voice channels to talk to your instructor and fellow classmates while playing Minecraft together, enhancing the collaborative and immersive learning experience. If you’re new to Discord, don’t worry! We’ll provide guidance on how to set it up and join our server before the lesson begins.

To begin your Minecraft lesson, you’ll need the following:

  1. Minecraft Game and Microsoft Account: Ensure you have a valid Microsoft Account to access your Minecraft game.
  2. Device: Use a compatible device such as a computer, laptop, iPhone, iPad, Android or Nintendo Switch.
  3. Internet Connection: Make sure you have a stable internet connection for seamless gameplay.
  4. Headphones/Earbuds: These are recommended for better immersion and communication during the lesson.
  5. Discord (Voice App): Download and install Discord for voice communication during the lesson.
  6. Enthusiasm to Learn: Bring your curiosity and eagerness to explore and learn English through Minecraft!

Once enrolled, you’ll receive instructions on how to join our Minecraft server. Simply follow the provided steps to log in and join the class.

Our Minecraft lesson is open to all learners that have the ability to operate the game device. It is essential they are able to control and act interact with the game for example menus without supervision.

Absolutely! Our lesson is designed to help learners of all English proficiency levels. You’ll have the opportunity to practice and improve your English skills while playing Minecraft. Also Jason knows Japanese and *sometimes may need to throw it in here and there to keep things moving. But overall for most children it just becomes natural to use English in the lesson.

Note: In the initial 4-6 lessons, children might be quieter in the game as they concentrate on various tasks. However, as they become more accustomed to the environment, they gradually start using more English, making the learning process even more immersive and enjoyable!

If you experience any technical issues, don’t worry! Reach out to the instructor or a moderator for assistance, and we’ll do our best to help you troubleshoot and get back into the game.

Our Minecraft lesson typically has scheduled sessions, but you may also have the option to join outside of these times, depending on availability. Check with the instructor for more information.

No, Minecraft itself is not included in the class fee. Students are responsible for purchasing and installing Minecraft on their chosen device prior to the lesson. However, once you have access to Minecraft, you’ll be able to join our private server and participate in the English lessons using the game. If you need assistance with purchasing or setting up Minecraft, feel free to reach out to the instructor for guidance.

Absolutely! We understand that trying something new can be exciting but also a bit nerve-wracking. That’s why we offer trial lessons for prospective students. It’s a chance for you to experience our Minecraft English class firsthand, meet the instructor, and get a feel for how the lessons are conducted. During the trial, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the game, interact with other players, and practice English in a fun and engaging environment. After the trial, if you decide to join the class, we’ll guide you through the enrollment process. So go ahead, give it a try, and let’s embark on this Minecraft English adventure together!

We understand the importance of catering to each student’s individual English proficiency and game level. Our instructors are trained to assess each student’s abilities and adapt the lesson content accordingly. During group lessons, we utilize various teaching strategies, such as differentiated instruction and group activities, to ensure that all students are engaged and challenged at an appropriate level. Additionally, our lessons are designed to foster collaboration and peer learning, allowing students to support and learn from each other as they progress. Rest assured, we strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive and improve their English skills while enjoying the game of Minecraft.

Of course we will try and match you to the closest group when you start.
